Since you guys pay me to design the game, ultimately it's you're choice. I personally have a strong prefrence toward the worded, but I thought I might as well put it up for a vote since there are some strong opinions about having pure numbers in the report...

So which do we like better? Pure numbers, or worded?

We can't have both, unless I make one of them a user generated report (thus taking up a user generated slot...)

The numbers one could be cleaned up just a little bit, sorted by the Global Image column perhaps like the worded one.

The worded one has been adjusted to be position in rank rather than using a statical bell curve that was being screwed up by outliers.

Anyway, I'll let this poll sit for a while, as we don't have anywhere near as much traffic as we used to.

[IMPLEMENTED]Reformat All-In-One-Mega-Menu

So learning more each day and i'm finding that moving around the game is pretty convoluted at times. The all in one mega menu is really, really handy however there isn't enough room.

What we really need is for things to be split up into different pages.

For example, instead of having "modify", "information" & "Auto-commands" change them to:

- Production
- Distribution
- Marketing
- + others as they come along (maybe Design?)

And then move some info from the modify tab and some from the auto commands onto the one page so everything for each part of your business is in the one place. I've found that to do certain things, you need to click through 2 - 5 screens to figure out the info needed to make the change.

Under production, have all of your factories and what they making and be able to change production in each factory from the same screen. It would be really nice to be able to see the full names of cars without having to scroll things sideways to see what cars have what production assigned to them.

For distribution, be able to see and change pricing for "globally", "regionally" & "locally". Also being able to see total sales numbers would be really helpful as well. Perhaps as you change "zoom" (from say globally to regionally) have the sales numbers change to match so that you can see what you have sold in that region or that locality.

For marketing, be able to see and change marketing but also have the global commands as well. Also some information about the effect of your marketing and also marketing per unit.

I think that also placing some of the information from reports onto the mega menu might be a good idea as well. For example, the "total cost per unit" (not just the production cost per unit) would be really handy to have on the distribution tab (that way you can see your true bottom line).

Obviously, this is a pretty big suggestion that would require a lot of work. I feel that the only place the game is let down is in it's "user friendliness". The level of detail is amazing and if the game was easier to play, it would be 3x the amount of awesome it already is.

Apologies if this has already been suggested and thanks for your continue effort. They say that AAA games are killing the gaming industry. Its indie and small dev games like this that have heart and s oul and are worth supporting.

Hi guys! That was heck of a long time between this day and the alpha/beta when i did my first topic on this site. First of all - i must say im glad this game made it... Because it brings good old days when i was playing Detroit and Old Timer. I love this game - and the possibility to play from 1900s to "future". I get hang of the game thanks to great help from you in my first topic. But this topic is not only about sweetness...

As a daily worker (12h/day) in accounting/hr i have slight problems reading numbers in game... Is possibile to add in options alternate number look? To be clear (i know that my english is still a problem), how i would like to see numbers:

In game: 16664988$
My suggestion: 16'664'988$ or 16 664 988$

Small thing but could help people like me

The pop-ups relating to car prices in the mega menu ("sell everywhere" for example) currently have a 5 or 6 character limit. This could become an issue in very late game as some elite marques start selling cars for over $1M a pop.
I'd suggest this limit either needs to be increased by a few digits or removed entirely.

Note: I don't know if this limit exists on the main factory/city page of the mega menu as I haven't thought to try it till now and I won't be able to try until about 24h from now.

Where is the information about the factory reconstruction time? (sorry for bad english)

well, I resize my factory. It said that it will finish at 11/1908. Ok, it's alright. I push the button resize and press "End Turn". Later on, I want to check when my factory resize task ETA, but I can't find the info. Unfortunately, I forgot about when it will finish. So I press the resize button and again and resize. Rather than the game give me the info that the resize work is already begin, the game allow me to resize my factory again.

The funny thing is, that the reconstruction report come twice. From my first resize act, and my second resize act. It's funny. I dunno if it's considered as bug, or a feature that the Dev forget to add to the game.

My suggestion would be to include more visibility (breakdown) of the financial results of the Company.

For Managers, it is very important to track and understand the Variable Costs, Fixed Costs, Distribution Costs, Marketing Expenses and General Overhead Expenses. This way the player should be able to understand better the operating profit and make decisions accordingly.

I would suggest having a section with financial information including all these (a good example is Capitalism 2 or Capitalism Lab).

If a financial model is included, I would suggest multiple currencies, and other macroeconomic variables, such as interest rates, inflation and GDP growth.

There is a Business Simulation Game used by Universities in their MBA degrees called Business Strategy Game (http://bsi.bsg-online.com/) which has all these in place.

Just at a glance without any other information knowledge, can you tell if that projected budget is for a year or a month?

Im pretty sure i know the answer myself as ive had a lot of experience with the game, but thinking from a new players perspective, this would be far less obvious.

I think most screens that actually allow you to adjust budgets this way, should tell you if you are adjusting a monthly or yearly budget, even if that appears obvious.
Usually this is done through tooltips, but is plenty of room in this screen so there really isnt the kind of space constraints that make tooltips necessary.

This is a really minor suggestion that really only applies in very extreme circumstances, but it might be a good bug to keep in mind for a future rainy day.

Ive noticed something when you IPO in a game, in situations where you are extremely rich (like a save for testing purposes).
Rather than automatically giving you a stock price like normal between 1-100, it gives you a value sometimes far above 100 then splits the stock each turn, i assume until it gets back in that region.
In the save i was discussing (again its an extreme example for testing purposes) my shares started at something like $9000 each then split every month for a while.

This seems unnecessary to me, it would clutter the messages and the game less generally if the game just always set your price between 1-100 and split the stocks as necessary during the IPO process.

I dont know how it works in RL, so perhaps im just ignorant of the process.

A minor suggestion.

In the R&D section
Vehicle Design
Design Body
Load Vehicle

At the moment you are often prevented from loading specific bodies youve created before because they are too advanced to fit in a certain time period.
A simple example is having a bunch of 1920 models and then playing a 1900 game, most of them are unavailable.

There is another problem i have encountered when ive made a body that is too small for the vehicle in question(the engine is too bi from memory), so im unable to load it for them.

The problem is, how do you actually tell which are unavailable?
Afaik you cant atm without opening them.

My suggestion would be to have:
1. A date on the right for each model, to tell you which year it was made in
2. Some kind of way of telling if a model will not fit your current design at a glance.

Ive got a suggestion for the Vehicle Design section of R&D
Following along from my older suggestions in this thread:
http://www.ventdev.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1010
In this thread i asked for the "Design Body" section to open automatically when you enter vehicle design.

I would also like to see the "Design Body" button placed second to reflect the fact it opens automatically and as a reflection of the fact its basically the first thing your forced to do before being able to view statistics.

Another reason i think its a goo idea is that ive many times misclicked it while trying to open all the windows to modify them.

Ive made a basic pic in paint to demonstrate what it would look like.

This is a minor issue with 1.13.

When you spend $0 on a research project and press apply, it still appears on your HR screen and clutters it up.
It seems unnecessary to me.
I imagine it would be more a problem when you have many research projects stacked up.

Screenshot of the HR Reserach section is attached.

Ive got some suggestions for the format of the Research Teams GUI
A basic screenshot of the research teams gui is included incase your not familiar with it.

Feel free to include more suggestions for this specific part of the gui if you like.

1. When you start to spend more on them, the number display that shows you how much you are spending can get really hard to read, as its often a 5-6 digit number.
Im not sure how to fix this, perhaps it automatically adds commas when you dont have your cursor in it? I think thats how ive seen it done in other games.

2. I cant speak for other gamers, but personally i mostly operate my Gearcity companies on a monthly profit/loss basis, with a lot of predictions/guessing.
So i would have no idea how much i could spend on this through a per year slider. Its not that i couldn't find out through yearly reports, its just that yearly is not how i usually operate, so it seems unnecessary to me.
I think the research team sliders should reflect this and be by month rather than by year.
