[FIXED]Bug (maybe design related)
#1
Hi again,

I noticed that sometimes, Acceleration stays at 0 (0-100 or 0-60)... Let's say most of the time actually...

So, first thing to add, it DOES NOT stop me from having HUGE sales, as you can see!
Example with my very first car, the Hamburger:

But still, I wondered what I could possibly do differently on those cars, and I may have something...

When you create car body design, sometimes, tyres are just crap to setup... I think we all experienced it...

My guess is that on the cars that have 0, I had difficulties setting those tyres, and even if I do not see any of them underneath the car, I think the tyres are still there. I mean, the ones I could not move towards the wheel positions... Am I clear enough?

On the first picture, you can see my very first Buttgotti car that I designed for Racing only (I mean I produced it, but mainly to try to win races, which I did not sadly...) the Type 35 A. Acceleration is normal (even if it is not far enough from modern cars), but still, it was designed for racing, so I think it is realistic enough (Plus that I know those cars, they do ROCK!!!)

On this second one, I tried to realize an update of my car (as I noticed that racing results go decreasing over time if the car remains the same) and I think I had this "problem" during body design... So now, the stats are 0...

So, I am not sure of what causes this, but I assume it has something to do with the body design...
I will try again within the game to create 2 cars, one with "Good" tyres locations, and one with bad location (under the car, some kind of "integrated" in it.......)

Any thought?

By the way, that did NOT stop me from selling those two racing cars around $ 5K each! And I sold as many as I produced...

I have seen the 0 accel a number of times, but i thought it was related to the way acceleration was calculated, or the way the number is rounded.

I think that test you suggested, to create 2 identical cars, should at least tell you if car body design has anything to do with it.
My assumption when playing the game was that car body design was purely cosmetic and had no impact on the stats of a car.

You got acceleration 0 because your car top speed is under 100km/h, so it is impossible to measure something that can't be reached...

Wow... I did not even notice that detail...

Makes sense, for sure!

Thx

Shleizer is correct, your cars do not go fast enough to measure acceleration.

This is something that I want to fix, but can't afford to fix. Tire placement is easier on newer models as they are seamless models. IF GC sells enough copies to justify me doing the expansion, we'll have auto placement for the tires. (As it is now all the car models in the game would have to be altered, and the car models are pretty much all done...)

Which body did you use? I'm wondering how you painted it leather! biggrin

The population pool will be decreasing in future versions... So enjoy the high sales while it lasts Smile

Actually the car body does have effect on the vehicle stats. Aerodynamic drag is calculated and has various effects on fuel economy, acceleration, top speed etc. The figures need to be tweaked as with everything else of course...

Did I? I did not noticed it... The thing is, about paint, that I have to click multiple times quickly on the color and then, drag it to the car to apply...

I remember trying to color the seat selecting the leather color... Maybe I dragged it on the car, not sure about it... I've been trying to do it again for 20 minutes and I did not managed to re-do it... I used the Twelve body! But trying that, I noted that the chassis gets colored when I select the plastic thing paint... Not sure if this is wanted or not, but I've never seen plastic chassis so far...

As a matter of facts, I can not remember having seen a whole leather car either biggrin
It reminds me my signature quote loooool!

You don't have to drag paint, just click the color and click what you want painted.

Nicely spotted, im embarrassed none of us thought of that Smile

That's useful to know, but i consider it a bit of a shame. Personally i don't enjoy designing vehicle bodies, so i was often just copying any vehicle design i had available to all of them and focusing on the parts of the game that interested me.
I don't expect you to change anything on my personal preference though, just to clarify.

Two questions, if you don't mind:
- Does the vehicle body design also effect any of the stats like comfort?
For example, if i make a super high end luxury vehicle with a roof and a average chassis but almost no headroom(height) in body design.
- If body design does effect the vehicle, what effect does it have on the AI vehicles which seem to always have no body design when i buy companies.

Well with the save vehicle system, you'd only need to design a car once. Then you can reuse the save file everytime...

Question 1) No to all of it.
2)The stats for the AI are simulated. The only way for us to have AI designed car bodies right now would be for me to go in and manually make thousands of car combos for the AI to use. (Not going to happen) When/If we ever get to redo the car models, then I could set up an accessories auto positioning system thus allowing the AI to dynamically design their own junk.

--» Sorry but I still don't get how to quote only the section I want!

Maybe we should all provide our designs (at least the ones that do not care about sharing theirs) in order for you to integrate them in the system as AI designs!

We could even create a dedicated post where we could rate the designs (if too many are available), or you could add everything and make it appear randomly through AI.

It should bring more realism within our games

to make a quote, just write [ quote] whatever you want to quote [ /quote] without the spaces.

I've considered doing this, and I might do it in the future. But as of right now it's not that important. Specially since it's something I'll completely rewrite if I get to make the expansion pack. Smile
