[$800] #126 | Backorder System
#1
Price: $800

Description: Remember, In GearCity, your customers are dealerships. Although we often skip dealership information and show direct consumer information.

When you have unfilled demand in GearCity Classic, we recycle some of the missed sales customers back into a buyer's pool. However, the majority of those customers become lost sales, and they disappear from the system.

In real life, most of those missed sales are dealership backorders. Dealers are willing to wait for popular models to come available. They're able to sell them directly off the lots quickly.

This bounty would implement such a back order system. A fraction of missed sales will go into a backorder pool for that vehicle at that location.

We'll add the backorders to the monthly unit demand when calculating sales.

Over time, the unfilled backorder will shrink. And major changes in economic conditions will also cause backorder cancelations.

Requirements: None

Required By: None

Concerns: This might slow down turn times without sales caching.

Backorders might cause some unbalanced fluctuations in sales.

Squeezing backorders into reports and GUI will be a challenge.

Eric's Opinion: This bounty fixes some inaccuracies with the game's sales system. It does present some technical challenges with size constraints in reports and GUIs. But overall, I think it's a valuable bounty. I have discounted the amount of work on this in the hopes that it gets funded.
