Hello everyone! I am reaching out to everyone to help fill the Predesigned Vehicle system with your designs! Originally I planned on running a contest or a sweepstakes, but the legal requirements for my state is too much. It would cost more in legal expenses than the prizes offered. So sadly I had to cancel that idea. But if you still want to help out, you can!

If you want your designs in the game as premades, simply gather up your car files from the GearCity/SavedCars folder. (How To Get to Main Folder). Compress them in a zip file or any other compression type. And email them to submissions@ventdev.com. Please include the "GearCity Car Submissions" in the subject line. Also include the name you wish to be credited, and license your work as CC0 “No Rights Reserved” so that I may reuse your work with the game. If you do not include the license, I will not add your vehicles to the game. You may also make special names for your vehicles, however this is not required. If no vehicle names are included, I will use the filename or randomly create one.

Please note, I reserve the right to not use your car files and to rename any file names, vehicle names, or author names for the designs as I see fit.

So:

Navigate to the GearCity/SavedCars folder: http://wiki.gearcity.info/doku.php?id=tr...tallfolder

Compress the .car files you wish to submit

Email them to me: submissions@ventdev.com

Subject line: "GearCity Car Submissions"

Include a notification that you are licensing these files as CC0 "No Rights Reserved". An easy way to do that is to put: "I am licensing these files as CC0 No Rights Reserved https://creativecommons.org/share-your-w...omain/cc0/" into the body of the email.

Please include the name you wish to appear in the game. If you do not wish to use a name, your submissions will be under 'Anonymous CEO'. Please remember, this game is distributed to tens of thousands of people. So if you don't want to use your real name, don't.

If you wish to include different vehicle names from .car filenames, please let me know.

With version 1.23 completed and all supplemental patches released it is time to update the demos for the game.

So what's in 1.23? There has been 87 documented bug fixes and 52 gameplay changes. Altogether there are 153 entries in the changelog.

V1.23 focused on a redesign of the contracting system. The system got a slight GUI makeover and the changes included some additional features such as racing contracts. This update also introduces two additional ways to share platforms with AI companies, the first is “Outsourcing” where you buy units manufactured units in bulk. And “Platform Sharing”, where you have access to any component a company you own a majority share in makes and they have access to your components.

The update also includes some improvements to the Auto Production system, a new munitions production system during a war, some AI improvements, rebalanced contracts and racing revenues, a new tutorial framework (which will have more content soon), and many bug fixes.

For a complete list, see the changelog: http://www.ventdev.com/forums/showthread...97#pid8497

GearCity 1.19 and OS X port!

Eric.B

Good morning everyone,

1.19 and the OS X port has been released today. You will find that your old save games no longer work in the new build, but don't fret! You can manually switch builds of the game to continue your old saves: tutorial on switching builds. http://www.ventdev.com/forums/showthread...37#pid6237

1.19 was a long process, mainly focused on GUI tweaks, adjustments, and bug fixes. Most major features included focus on GUI related tasks, such as Hotkeys (F9 to view the list for the room you're in.) Resizable windows (hardware mouse users will not see a mouse icon change when mousing over a resizable window. The edge of most leather background windows are resizable. Just click and drag.) The ability to save resized GUI in a room so it loads this way every time. (F11 to save GUI.) A "Did you Know" splash screen while waiting on turns to process, and the ability to stop auto turns. And I'm running out of space, check out the change log for more!

We also did some work with the car designer. More paints have been added as well as the ability to paint accessories. We also created a "Development Pace" slider for vehicles and components. This new slider will allow you to adjust the amount of time engineers have to work on the project. Rushing a project will cost you more money but you'll get the product faster. Where as taking your time will cost you less in development costs but longer amounts of time under development.

Finally the game has been ported to OSX. It has been tested on a number of versions and works as far back as 10.7, however the game was officially developed on 10.10 and officially tested on 10.10. As such we recommend that you have a Yosemite 10.10 or newer version of OS X. If in doubt try our demo located on our main website: www.gearcity.info (Linux Demo will be added in ~4-6 hours.)

For a change log of 1.19: http://steamcommunity.com/app/285110/dis...436639817/

So what's next? 1.20 will mainly focus on money.
The build has been broken down into three major parts:

Add/improve/and finish most expenses and revenue streams in game.

Improve and optimize AI and player AI helpers

Redesign stock, banking, and corporate handling system.

In between these key builds will probably be bug fixes as they get submitted as well as a few detracting features that get requested.

Anyhoo, I hope I covered everything. Enjoy!

Hello everyone,

We're pleased to launch the Open Beta for the OS X port today. It features 30 years of gameplay, just as the other Open Betas do. There are a few minor bugs that to be addressed before we launch the full game on Mac. Namely Full screen and hardware mouse support

I believe the minimum requirements is OS X 10.8, however I've only been able to get it tested on 10.10 machines.

Hello everyone,

Saturday we released 1.17 live to steam. This morning I updated the Open Beta files. You can find the latest version of the game here: http://www.gearcity.info/download.php?f=...ta1.17.exe

1.17 saw many changes to the game. The big ones included Unicode and foreign language support, military and fleet contracting, redesigned magazine and mega menu, and an action memo system. We've also took care of a good number of bugs and implemented a Hardware Accelerated Mouse (which you can enable in the settings.)

For a complete change log for 1.17 see this thread: http://www.ventdev.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1766

So what about 1.18? Over the course of 1.17 I fixed my trac (ticketing system) and started to compile a giant list of user feedback and suggestions. (You can view this list here: http://www.ventdev.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=2449) As you can see 1.18 deals mainly with all the suggestions and my own ideas for the RnD department and Consumer AI. We'll be adding new ratings, presenting important information to you better, and Improving the AI's ability to design components and vehicles. This should significantly improve both the user's gameplay and the AI's. It'll also probably add an extra layer of awesomeness to the game. So social life beware!

Enjoy!

Hello everyone!

As most of you know, we've recently done work to our localization system. We also translated most of the game into Russian to test out this system and make it ready for general use.
I believe the system is ready to handle multiple languages. Thus the reason for this announcement.

Due to the nature of Early Access we will be unable to do the translations officially until the game is completely finished. The text of the game is constantly changing which would make it too costly for us to maintain the multiple languages everyone has been requesting. So we're asking you the community to pitch in and get the game translated into your native tongue. Any languages not done by the community will be done by us when the game is completed. So don't worry if no one picks it up.
To sign up, visit http://185.52.1.98/ click GearCity folder, choose your language, then select the latest build!

Eric.B

Once again it's time to update our OpenBeta builds. You can find the download link here: http://www.gearcity.info/download.php?f=...ta1.16.exe

1.16 focused on three major things. First was the Linux port, which has gone pretty well. The OpenBeta 1.16 for it should be coming sometime this week.

We also created an internal text tutorial system. I've been neglecting to make more tutorials for it because of 1.16's delay. Currently we have a base introduction tutorial, but the framework allows us to add many advance tutorials. Once I have everything smoothed out on the Linux port, I will devote at least 1-2 hours a day documenting stuff in the tutorial system.

The last major feature was a redesign of the Racing System. On the outside not much has changed, but internally it's a completely different beast. We've added more series and more interaction with your teams. There is still some minor quarks, but most of the bugs in the system have been ironed out.

Of course we also included many suggestions and fixed many bugs as always.

So enough about the past, what about the future?

For 1.17 we plan on three major features to come out.

First is Unicode support, reformatting the text in the game to be easily translatable, hot loading of translation files (so no more editing GUI), custom font loading, custom font sizes, and a community translation web interface. All of that means one thing. We're translating the game to multiple languages! Hopefully it will be a community driven effort. More details will come as they come.

Second will be Government/Fleet contracting. This has been a heavily requested feature as you can't really do anything during war time. Essentially your HQ government will contract Compact SUV's and Engines during war time, assuming you win bids. Police, taxi's and many other fleets will contract out sedans, vans, etc during times of peace. Remember to grease the politician's pockets!

Last major feature will be a redesign of the Magazine system. We really need to put a lot more information in it, and fix the review system. It's horrible as it is now. So we'll do that!

As always, minor bug fixes and suggestions as I roll along.

1.16 Change Log:
------------------------------
+Fixed "Resize Factory" incorrect cost bug.
+Fill Research Staff now works on research teams.
+Fixed engine transverse. (Length and width now flip.)
+Fixed bug in fuel mileage testing and performance testing that resulted in worse stats due to mathematical error when all other siders were zeroed out.
+Fixed text errors on Replace Model tool.

+Fixed Office Crash in the 90s
