Description: Tankettes are small tracked fighting vehicles developed in the interwar period. They are smaller, lighter, and less armed than light tanks. One or two men crew a tankette, and some designs do not have turrets. Conceptionally, they are designed to support light infantry and break through enemy lines. In reality, their light armor made them very vulnerable to increased ground capabilities. Tankettes fell out of favor by the start of WW2.
