[$1000] #22 | Additional Buildings And Restrictions.
#1
Price: $1000

Description: We add additional building types to the game to increase expenses, provide bonuses, and restrict the player.

This bounty will also require a revision of the City Information window on the world map, and we'll need to add what buildings are in a city to the popup bubble.

When purchasing another company, duplicate buildings will be closed. HQs in regions that you do not have a regional HQ will convert to a regional HQ.

Regional HQ buildings will be optional.
  • HQ Building - The HQ size gives bonuses to administrative and marketing skills. It also sets the maximum number of regional headquarters. The HQ size is determined by five buttons that work similarly to old-style factory upgrades.
  • Regional HQ - The player has to open a regional HQ in every game region (continents on most maps) before they can open administrative offices, branches, or factories. The size of the regional HQ determines how many factories and branches the player can have in a region. The HQ size is determined by five buttons that work similarly to old-style factory upgrades.
  • Administrative Office - These national-level offices. They're not required, but they increase branch sales in a nation and marketing efficiency. (This is more important if the community funds a Complete Marketing Revision.) The office size is determined by five buttons that work similarly to old-style factory upgrades.
  • Research Facility - These buildings give you a minor boost to your research and design skills. The size is determined by five buttons that work similarly to old-style factory upgrades. These buildings are required to fund research teams/research specific components.
  • Racing Facility - These buildings give you a minor boost to your racing efforts. The size is determined by five buttons that work similarly to old-style factory upgrades.

Requirements: None

Concerns: The color codes used in the world map will not display what cities have what building. We'll have to improve the bubble maps when you hover over a window. Or maybe the community will need to fund other map options. It might be hard to convey to the player they need more capacity in these offices to build a new branch or what have you.

Eric's Opinion: A pretty cool feature that provides some additional expenses to the game. It fleshes out the administrative employee side of the game more. And it gives the player a few ways they can try to squeeze more out of their company using the building system.

Somewhat related is the idea of making the branch limit moddable (https://www.ventdev.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=4374), i.e. being able to say "max 5 branches per year" rather than have it be a fixed fraction of the overall number of cities. Noting this here as suggested by Eric from the linked thread's conversation.
