If you're using the Steam version, try launching it from Steam.

I did i only launch it from console to get the log.
Run Steam from the terminal and then provide me the entire output. If you're uncomfortable putting it on the message board, email it to me: admin@ventdev.com or send it to me via PM.

steam > log.txt 2>&1 should work.
Then launch the video settings editor.
Then provide me the log.txt file content.
According to the Steam Logs, I see a lot of attempts to use proton. Double check to make sure you have disabled proton for GearCity and it's tools. Be sure you're launching them natively or are using one of the Linux compatibility layers like Sniper.

Beyond that, switch to another build, like Default and see if the mod tools will launch there. Via Steam or Terminal.

in compatibility tools its only letting me use scout (runtime 1.0) out of the linux runtimes i have sniper installed
should i use proton?

No, do not use Proton, the game is natively Linux and runs better in Linux than Windows.

Scout would be fine as well or sniper. Both are older than Arch.

Thanks, I'll investigate it next time I am in the office then. Until then, you should be able to set all the settings you need on normal and then switch to 2nd Gear.
