Which version of the game were you on? If you're on "Testing" then it probably won't work. However Default, Stable, and Legacy saves (1.19, 1.18.4, and 1.17) should work.

Unfortunately I never was able to get back to the old savegame and now, when I wanted, it didn't work out with all the cool new features.

However, I think I found a workaround that also may make it interesting again as the company was too big and too rich to fail anyways.
